Khaberni - Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Munim Al-Oudat, confirmed that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, is advancing on the path of modernization with its three aspects: political, economic, and administrative, within a framework of steadfastness to principles and openness to the future, which enhances its standing and protects its supreme national interests.
The Minister said during his meeting on Tuesday with the president of the Community Peace Association, Bilal Al-Sakarna, and some of its members, that the role of parties is not limited to political participation but extends to contributing to guarding community peace through presenting realistic visions and programs based on consensus. These reflect the interests of people and address their needs, and are based on a deep understanding of the state's priorities and challenges.
He added that effective parties form the backbone of any balanced democratic system, as they are the natural incubator for expressing the citizens' opinions and aspirations, and the institutional mediator that conveys their demands to state institutions in organized and legitimate frameworks.
Al-Oudat pointed out that conscious party participation is an expression of belief in the state and its institutions, and of concern for its future and stability. It is the optimal way to establish the concept of active citizenship and productive belonging, away from individualism and narrow interests.
Al-Oudat explained that in light of the rapid developments in the region, there is a need for responsible parties that have clear national programs, based on dialogue not exclusion, and on diversity not discord, to be real partners in shaping the national decision and continuing the journey of reform that started with steadiness and confidence.
He noted that everybody's responsibility—government, parties, and civil society institutions— is to continue working as a team, to establish the foundations of the modern democratic state, a state of justice, citizenship, and rule of law.
For his part, Al-Sakarna explained that the association was established in 2018 under the authority of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs with the aim of building a community culture based on dialogue and tolerance among community members, and contributing to achieving security and stability and promoting community peace, noting that the association has implemented many activities and programs for various sectors in several regions of the kingdom.
In their turn, the attendees from the association members emphasized the importance of raising political awareness among citizens, the necessity of building capacities of party members on how to manage and govern them, pointing out that parties, associations, and unions are the real melting pot for active participation.
They requested more attention to political associations as a real arm of the ministry in reaching various segments of society, and the creation of a special platform for licensed associations under the ministry's umbrella, along with holding a periodic conference for members of these associations and activating all effective communication tools among them under the supervision of the Ministry of Political Affairs.
