Joint cooperation between Amman Arab University and the Ministry of Energy to develop scientific research and support the transi

Khaberni - In the context of Amman Arab University's efforts to enhance partnerships with leading national institutions, Amman Arab University, represented by its President Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, represented by His Excellency Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, to develop areas of scientific, research, and applied cooperation in energy policies, renewable energy, and energy consumption rationalization. The partnership aims to support national efforts towards sustainable development in the Kingdom, attended by: Engineer Amani Al-Azzam, Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; Dr. Anwar Al-Assaf, Dean of the Engineering Faculty at Amman Arab University; Dr. Akram Moussa, Head of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department; Engineer Shahd Al-Mawas, a faculty member at the Engineering Faculty at Amman Arab University; and Mr. Anas Kaso, Assistant Director of the Media and Relations Department at Amman Arab University.

During the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Widian affirmed that the signing of the memorandum of understanding is in line with the university's directions towards enhancing its national partnerships that support the journey of sustainable development in Jordan. He noted that this cooperation enhances the role of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department at the university, which has become an active member of the American Energy Engineers Association (AEE). This reflects the university's commitment to developing academic programs and linking them with practical and modern technological applications in the fields of renewable energy and resource use efficiency. He indicated that the university, through these partnerships, aims to prepare human resources capable of actively contributing to the development of the energy sector, aligning with the Jordanian national vision for a transition towards clean energy and environmental sustainability. He also noted that the university is progressing in activating applied scientific research in energy fields and encouraging innovative and entrepreneurial projects that contribute to achieving sustainable economic and environmental development.

On his part, His Excellency Dr. Al-Kharabsheh welcomed the delegation from Amman Arab University and emphasized the importance of scientific research in developing energy sector projects. He pointed out the necessity of establishing a national center for energy research and a specialized national laboratory to support research and scientific efforts in this field. He emphasized that scientific research is a fundamental pillar in finding innovative solutions for future challenges and contributing to supporting plans for transitioning to green energy, producing energy more efficiently and at lower cost, while preserving the environment. He mentioned the significance of focusing on research related to green hydrogen technology as an energy moderation source in Jordan.

For his part, Dr. Al-Assaf noted that the signing of the memorandum of understanding represents a qualitative step towards enhancing the academic and practical role of the university in the fields of sustainable energy. He confirmed that cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would open new horizons for students and faculty members to participate in national research projects and practical applications that contribute to the development of the energy sector in Jordan. He explained that the Engineering Faculty at Amman Arab University is working on integrating the concepts of sustainability and innovation into curricular and research plans, in alignment with the national directions for transitioning towards clean energy and supporting the knowledge economy.

The memorandum stipulates the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two sides in the fields of scientific and applied research related to energy, the implementation of joint research projects that contribute to developing innovative solutions in the fields of alternative energy and improving its efficiency, in addition to organizing joint seminars and workshops, exchanging scientific and technical data and information in the field of energy, and providing practical training opportunities for faculty members and students at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and partner institutions.

Both parties confirmed that the signing of the memorandum comes within the framework of enhancing integration between academic institutions and the government sector, supporting the implementation of the national energy strategy, and enhancing efforts towards achieving energy efficiency and expanding the use of renewable sources.
