When the Spring of Modesty Dried Up Rivers of Temptation Flowed and The Scales Were Altered
Author: أحمد سعد الحجاج

Khaberni - In times where crises intersect, livelihoods shrink, and souls are crowded with haunting questions, modesty has become a rare currency, and shy visits some homes as a timid visitor knocking on doors, finding no one to listen. We see girls in the bloom of their youth waiting for fortune as the parched wait for raindrops; neither the clouds promise, nor does the rain fall. A society exaggerates dowries making marriage a far-fetched dream and a path fraught with difficulties, as if dignity has become a luxury that can only be obtained at a great cost.

I have previously addressed in an article published by Ammon News titled: "From Solid Covenant to Rubble... Divorce Opens Doors to Collapse", how the accumulation of financial and social crises, exaggeration in dowries, and lack of facilitation and family guidance lead families to collapse, leaving young men and women facing emptiness and despair. Thus, bonds break before forming, and divorce becomes a gate to chaos in the social fabric.

Exaggeration of dowries is not just a financial burden, but a direct cause of delaying marriages and lengthening the duration of singleness, breaking the social fabric. The real gold lies not in jewels or wealth but in dignity, modesty, purity, and good offspring, in a pious and pure Muslim home built on love and reverence, not on lavish appearances. The lesser the dowry, the more the blessings, the easier the path, the fewer the sins, and the higher the standards of purity rise.

In this context, the role of the Ministry of Awqaf and the General Iftaa’ Department is highlighted in addressing the social and economic phenomena driving temptation through Friday sermons that remind people that marriage is a door to modesty, not a show-off race, and that chastity and purity are the basis for a community's wellbeing. Directing families towards facilitation and awareness of the importance of balancing religious demands with circumstances. Furthermore, responsible fatwas realign concepts, inviting moderation and centrality, and enlightening the community that exaggeration in dowries does not uphold dignity but burdens those about to marry, threatening their stability.

And we cannot forget the role of each family member in guiding the youth, easing their psychological and financial burdens, enabling them to take steps towards marriage with confidence and faith, and adjusting the balance of the social fabric. Education in modesty, awareness of the risks of excessive material expectations are collective responsibilities starting from home and continuing in society to prevent deviations and close the doors of temptation before they intensify.

The private sector, including companies, banks, and major institutions, is a genuine partner to the public sector in this field, as it should focus on supporting the youth and small to medium enterprises as a pillar of its social responsibility, through facilitating financing programs and marriage funds that ease the establishment of homes, maintaining family stability and the social fabric.

The government is also required to reconsider its economic and social priorities, and seriously plan to create sustainable job opportunities for young people approaching marriage, enabling them to rely on themselves and thus protecting their community from collapse and deviation.

Yes, the scales have changed, but there is still in the society those who awaken the conscience, reminding us that modesty is not a weakness but a strength that confronts the current, and that shyness is a crown that adorns dignity. When we restore the dignity of marriage, the status of modesty, and the value of purity, we will see a community that regains its purity, with the Muslim home remaining a safe haven and a protective shield for the social fabric from any disintegration or collapse.

In conclusion, we say: When purity is revived, modesty protected, and society rises with chastity and reverence, values are preserved, homes regain their balance, and the entire society becomes a beacon of safety and peace, before the flowers wither and drown in rivers of temptation.
