Khaberni - New information revealed that the family of the three children who died by drowning yesterday in King Abdullah Canal in Deir Alla, had recently been relocated from the Karama Dam area along with about 20 other families, by a decision from the Jordan Valley Authority which saw the relocation as a precautionary measure to avoid the risk of drowning near the dam.

According to Ahmed Al-Muhammadieen, a relative of the family in a statement to Khaberni, they had lived near the dam for more than 50 years, and consider the area safer for them, pointing out that the relocation decision affected the families’ stability and gathering, adding that the locals are ready to sign undertakings not to claim any future compensation in case they return to living near the dam.

Sorrow overshadowed the Azazmah tribe, particularly the Al-Muhammadieen family, after the death of the three children: Izdihar (7 years), Amer (5 years), and Mohammed (3 years) according to Khaberni, drowned in King Abdullah Canal on Tuesday.

The public security spokesman confirmed that the diving teams responded to the report immediately upon its receipt, and the three children were retrieved from the waters of the canal, and transferred to Princess Iman Government Hospital, where it was confirmed that they had passed away, may God have mercy on them all. An investigation was announced to establish the circumstances of the incident.
