Khaberni - The Jordanian referee Adham Al-Mukhadmeh led the Saudi Arabia vs Iraq summit in the World Cup qualifiers that took place on Tuesday-Wednesday night with distinction, despite the criticisms that accompanied his appointment as the referee by both Saudi and Iraqi fans alike.
Saudi fans expressed their concerns about Al-Mukhadmeh’s decisions, nicknamed "the Asian Collina", following a previous bad experience - as described by critics - with the clubs AlHilal and Al-Nassr.
Conversely, Iraqi fans criticized the appointment of Al-Mukhadmeh, considering he is Jordanian, from the same country that snatched the World Cup qualifying spot from Iraq, amidst fears that his appointment could influence the summit with unfair decisions for their team.
According to observers, Al-Mukhadmeh and his Jordanian team led the match without any impactful errors, amid praise and hopes that he will carry his whistle in next year’s World Cup.
