An Important Message from Marwan Barghoutis Wife

Khaberni - After the Israeli occupation refused to include the leaders of the captive movement and Palestinian factions in the release lists that were negotiated as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, threatening to completely blow up the agreement if the Palestinian resistance insisted on their release, the wife of the imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti, who is sentenced to five life sentences and considered one of the prominent leaders of the Fatah movement and symbols of the Second Intifada, sent a message to him and to the Palestinian people.

Fadwa Barghouti began her message by saying: “For the sake of Gaza, for the sake of Palestine, for the sake of our people.. Yes, Marwan, it is difficult and painful, but I know you and I know that what alleviates your pain is stopping the destruction and devastation and the crimes against our people in Gaza.”

She continued in a tone mixed with nostalgia and resilience: “Now you rejoice, even if you are alone, at the end of the massacre, imagining those returning on Rashid Street and wondering how to ease their unbearable pain and suffering, as they face loss, rubble, and great and numerous dangers, and you bid farewell to the freed and console and comfort those who remain in this hell.”

In another section of her message, Fadwa spoke about the depth of her husband's commitment to the idea of freedom and the unity of the people despite the long suffering: “I know that you think, even to yourself, on behalf of a people yearning for freedom and a dignified life, and you search how we can lessen the burden of heavy days and their hardships, and you are determined on the unity of the people and the land, planning to give every child a space of life and hope, and you remember comrades and dialogue with the living among them and the martyrs in your mind.”

Then she recalled a memory from the beginnings of their shared journey, to affirm that his faith in Palestine had remained steadfast since his early youth: “Your lifelong companion remembers your words 41 years ago well, you told me Palestine takes priority until liberation, and our share of life comes after it, and you were right. I responded to you then: Is Palestine yours alone? And I'm still trying to keep the promise despite all the pain it carries.”

Barghouti concluded her message with words that combine hope and faith: “Despite all the suffering, the heart of a mother inside me feels a great relief and carries a dream of a new dawn for mothers, waiting for you, me and the family and your people who love you and you love, and we shall meet soon.”
