Khaberni - All English clubs in the top five divisions will have to obtain licenses to play starting from the 2027-28 season.
The British news agency (PA Media) reported that clubs will need to regularize their financial status to comply with the rules of the Independent Licensing Committee, and demonstrate how they interact with fans and adhere to governance standards to obtain a license.
The 116 clubs in the English league and the next three divisions in addition to the first amateur division will need to apply for a temporary license in the upcoming 2026-27 season.
A pilot program for clubs is expected to start from next summer, before the application period between November 2026 and February 2027, and licenses will be issued before the general assembly meetings of those championships, so that those three leagues are certain about which clubs have met the standards and which have not.
It is planned that an exceptional period will be opened for clubs that are close to moving up to the first division in the amateur league, making them subject to the committee's standards, and this period will be between early March and the end of April 2027.
