On October 9, current, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first stage of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, following indirect negotiations between the two sides in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, and under U.S. supervision.
According to the agreement, Hamas, on Monday, completed the release of twenty living Israeli prisoners from Gaza, while Tel Aviv estimates the presence of bodies of 28 other prisoners, four of which have been received by Israel.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority for Prisoner Affairs and the Prisoner Club in a joint statement said that today Israel released 1,968 prisoners including 250 sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,718 prisoners from Gaza captured after the war.
This comes amid Palestinian accusations of Tel Aviv manipulating the prisoner lists.
It is scheduled that negotiations regarding the second phase of the agreement will begin in a few days, with Hamas insisting on a complete end to the genocide war, a full withdrawal of the Israeli army, and refusal to give up "the resistance weapons" to the occupation.
