Khaberni - The Syrian Artists’ Guild announced this Monday evening the death of composer and music researcher Usman Hanawi, expressing its condolences to his sister, the esteemed artist Mayada Hanawi.
The Syrian Artists’ Guild - Damascus Branch said in a post on "Facebook": "Our heartfelt condolences to our colleague, the esteemed artist Mayada Hanawi on the death of her brother, the music researcher Usman Hanawi.. To God we belong and to Him we shall return".
Who is Usman Hanawi:
He worked at the Syrian Embassy in Cairo during the 1970s.
He introduced his sister Mayada to the musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab during her time in Egypt, and that meeting was the beginning of her major artistic breakthrough.
Thanks to him, Mayada entered the Egyptian art scene and collaborated with great composers such as Baligh Hamdi and Riyad Al Sunbati.
