Khaberni - The World Health Organization issued on Monday a health warning about 3 cough syrup medications that were found to be contaminated in India, and urged health authorities in other countries to report immediately if any of these products are discovered.
The organization clarified that the contaminated medicines include specific batches of "Coldrif", "Respifresh TR", and "Relife", manufactured by "Srisan Pharmaceuticals", "Rednix Pharmaceuticals", and "Ship Pharma".
The organization indicated that these contaminated products pose significant health risks and could cause severe life-threatening diseases.
The Central Drug Authority in India informed the WHO that 17 children under the age of five died last week in India after taking these contaminated medicines.
The authority confirmed that none of these contaminated medications have been exported from India, and there is no evidence of their illegal exportation.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed last Friday that these syrup medications have not been shipped to the United States.
