Khaberni - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that Egypt will host a conference for the reconstruction and development in Gaza, and clarified that Cairo will work within days on establishing the shared foundations for reconstructing the devastated sector.

The Egyptian President emphasized on Monday evening the importance of holding the Cairo conference for early recovery and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip in November.

This was during a meeting held by the Egyptian President, before the launch of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The meeting also included the German Chancellor, the Prime Ministers of Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.

The meeting aimed, according to the statement, to coordinate among the participating countries regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, including reconstruction efforts and humanitarian aid provision.

Encouragement and Support

El-Sisi pointed out the importance of European countries encouraging all relevant parties to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

He noted that Egypt and Jordan are training a number of Palestinian police officers, and that it is important for European countries to support Cairo and Amman in this regard to continue and expand the training.

Egypt seeks to activate a plan adopted by both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in March, aimed at reconstructing Gaza without displacing its Palestinian residents, to be implemented over 5 years at a cost of about 53 billion dollars.

The Peace Summit on Gaza events were held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and American President Donald Trump, with participation from over 31 leaders of states and regional and international organizations.

Leaders and heads of the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar signed a comprehensive document on the agreement between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
