Russia A Palestinian state must be established after implementing Trumps plan

Khaberni - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today, Monday, that a Palestinian state must be established after the implementation of US President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza.

This came during Lavrov's meeting with journalists from Arab countries in Moscow, according to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday.

In response to journalists' questions, Lavrov pointed out that they see President Trump's plan regarding Gaza as "the best option available," but it is not a solution to the Palestinian issue.

He added, "Trump's plan only includes Gaza. This plan includes phrases about the state but needs detailing. The fate of the West Bank must be determined."

He continued, "UN resolutions stipulate the establishment of a full-sovereignty Palestinian state within the borders of 1967. Russia commits to implementing these resolutions like many members of the international community."

"Once this plan (Trump's plan) is fully implemented, the process of establishing a Palestinian state must begin, and concrete agreements must be reached based on the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council," he continued.

He confirmed that they will do their utmost to implement the agreements reached under Trump's plan regarding Gaza.

He expressed hope for the success of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit being held in Egypt today, Monday.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had agreed on the first phase of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, following indirect negotiations between the parties in Sharm El Sheikh, with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, and under American supervision.

The agreement is based on a plan proposed by Trump, which involves stopping the war, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army, a mutual release of prisoners, an immediate entry of aid into the sector, and the disarmament of Hamas.

According to Trump's plan, the Gaza Strip would be under a temporary transitional governance by a non-political Palestinian technocrat committee, responsible for managing daily public services and municipal affairs.

With American support, Israel has committed genocide in Gaza since October 8, 2023, resulting in 67,869 martyrs, 170,105 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that took the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.

Israel has occupied Palestine and lands in Syria and Lebanon for decades, refusing to withdraw from them and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, along the pre-1967 war borders.
