Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, today, Monday, held separate meetings with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, French President Emmanuel Macron, Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The meetings, which were held on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt, focused on the necessity of consolidating the agreement to end the war in Gaza as a political pathway leading to the restoration of calm in the region, and focusing on the comprehensiveness of subsequent stages of the agreement to ensure its success.
During his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Tamim, His Majesty the King praised Qatar's mediation efforts that led to the agreement, and its endeavors to achieve peace and stability at the regional level.
It was emphasized on supporting the brotherly Palestinian people in establishing their independent state based on the two-state solution.
His Majesty the King also affirmed during a meeting with the French President the alignment of views between Jordan and France regarding the need to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
His Majesty lauded France's efforts to mobilize positions supportive of the Palestinian cause, appreciating France's recognition of the Palestinian state.
During His Majesty the King's meeting with the President of Cyprus, His Majesty emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to address the consequences of the war on Gaza, and to alleviate the suffering of its people.
His Majesty highlighted the importance of sustaining coordination with the European Union to achieve security and peace in the region.
King Abdullah and the British Prime Minister discussed the importance of intensifying international efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through the revival of negotiations, expressing appreciation for Britain’s recognition of the Palestinian state.
His Majesty warned of the repercussions of the dangerous escalation targeting Palestinians in the West Bank and violations against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
His Majesty the King indicated during his meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister the importance of exerting maximum efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
His Majesty pointed to the Kingdom's ongoing efforts in delivering relief aid to mitigate the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, praising Canada's role in the humanitarian response.
The meetings were attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the Director of His Majesty's Office, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.
