Khaberni - An English press report indicated that Real Madrid is setting its sights on Max Douman, one of the talents of the English Arsenal team, during his participation with the England youth team during the current international break.
The England team played a match against Wales last Thursday, in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, and is set to face Latvia next Tuesday.
According to the British "Daily Mail", Real Madrid is monitoring Douman's performance, who is currently training with the under-19 team, despite being just 15 years old.
Douman made his first appearance in the Premier League last August, with his team Arsenal under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, becoming the second youngest player in the competition behind his teammate Ethan Nwaneri.
The newspaper added that the English midfielder has impressed Real Madrid scouts, who observed his performance with the England team last September.
Real Madrid has ensured to follow up on the player once again and sent its scouts during the current October, while the under-19 team is currently training in Marbella.
The England under-19 team defeated Belgium, with a score of 4-1 on Saturday, and Douman participated as a substitute in the second half, and is scheduled to face Wales next Tuesday.
First Appearance
Douman, inscribed his name in golden letters in Premier League history, after playing against Leeds United last August at the Emirates Stadium, during the second round of the Premier League.
Douman entered as a substitute in the second half, specifically in the 64th minute, replacing Noni Madueke.
According to the "Opta" statistics network, Max Douman (15 years and 235 days old) became the third player to participate in a Premier League match before reaching 16 years old.
Before Douman, his teammate Ethan Nwaneri played against Brentford in September 2022 (15 years and 181 days old), and Jeremie Monga played for Leicester City against Newcastle United last April (15 years and 271 days old).
Douman was granted a penalty kick, in the 93rd minute, with Declan Rice initially advancing before passing it to his teammate Victor Gyokeres.
Praise from the Rival
Wayne Rooney, the legend of Manchester United, believes that Arsenal's rising star Max Douman will have a bright future, after his impressive first appearance in the Premier League.
Rooney made his debut with Everton at the age of 16 in 2002, five days before turning 17, when he became the youngest scorer in the league by scoring the stunning winning goal against Arsenal in the final minutes.
In his show on the BBC network "The Wayne Rooney Show", the United legend mentioned about Douman, "Playing at that age in the Premier League is crazy".
He noted: "I know I played when I was young, but I think he played about 150 days or more younger than me."
He continued: "For Max and his family and friends, I am sure they are living a dream and a fairy tale, and they may not have realized it yet, but it is visible that his future is going to be very bright. He will have a bright future".
He added: "Everyone you talk to in the football world repeats the same name: Max Douman".
Meanwhile, Douman's teammate at Arsenal, Ethan Nwaneri, remains the youngest player to participate in the history of the Premier League at 15 years and 181 days, during the 3-0 win against Brentford in September 2022.
Rooney, now 39 years old, spoke about the pressures of playing top-level football in England at a young age: "It seems unreal, it's strange to be in the youth team one moment, and in the next you find yourself in the locker room alongside some of your heroes".
He completed: "It's an experience that needs to be adapted to quickly because it can be confusing".
He continued: "It seems that Max Douman is a well-balanced young man, based on everything I've seen, and I hope he can handle it and understand what awaits him very soon".
