Khaberni - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has started installing speed bumps (speed bumps) and marking and furnishing the Petroleum Road, in Irbid Governorate, in order to reduce traffic accidents, control high speeds, and ensure the safety of road users.

The Ministry pointed out that it is striving to improve the road's condition even though it does not fall within its jurisdiction. It is an un-owned road that was established in the middle of the last century to serve the "Tapline" route, and it is one of the roads that connect the Koura, Northern Jordan Valley, Taybeh, and Bani Obaid districts and Irbid Qasaba.

The Ministry drew attention to the fact that in previous years it had widened the road to a current width of 8 meters after it had been only about 3 meters wide, and it continued to furnish the road with warning signs and traffic markers on a regular basis.

The Ministry indicated that there are no indicators or numbers showing an increase in the rate of accidents on this road compared to other roads, while traffic studies indicate that the majority of accidents are caused by excessive speed and improper overtaking.

According to a study prepared for the road, surveillance cameras for speed will be installed in the coming period to reduce excessive speeds and reduce accidents, and a roundabout will be constructed within the 2026 purview at the known "Petroleum Triangle," referred to as "Al-Jaabi Triangle," aiming to facilitate traffic flow and ensure its smoothness.

It is noted that the road has witnessed significant traffic accidents lately, thus this step was taken to alleviate them.
