Khaberni - Hamas insists that the list of detainees whom Israel will release under the ceasefire agreement in Gaza includes seven prominent Palestinian leaders, according to what the French news agency reported today, Sunday, from sources familiar with the negotiations.
One of these sources stated that "Hamas insists that the final list includes the seven senior leaders, most notably Marwan Barghouti, Ahmad Sa'adat, Ibrahim Hamed, and Abbas al-Sayed," a fact that another source confirmed to the same agency.
The source added that the movement and its allies have completed all preparations to hand over all living prisoners held in Gaza to Israel.
This comes as the "Prisoners’ Media Office," affiliated with Hamas, stated today there are "complex obstacles" that prevent the official announcement of the final lists of prisoner names to be released in the exchange deal with Israel under the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The office, in a statement on its Telegram account, said: "The Prisoners' Media Office confirms that complex obstacles still prevent the official announcement of the lists of prisoners to be released as part of the exchange deal, including prisoners from Gaza, women, and children."
It confirmed that "efforts are being made around the clock to overcome these obstacles and complete the required procedures." The office stated that "the names and all details related to the deal will be announced as soon as the negotiations are concluded and the final lists are adopted, up to the last name."
On Friday, the Israeli Justice Ministry published the names of 250 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, expected to be released under the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, but the "Prisoners' Media Office" denied reaching an "official agreement regarding the lists."
On Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his plan to cease fire and exchange prisoners, after four days of indirect negotiations between the parties in Sharm el-Sheikh, involving Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and under American supervision.
Under the agreement, Israel is set to release 250 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, in addition to about 1700 others arrested by Tel Aviv from the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023.
Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, of whom 20 are alive.
