Survey Majority of Jordanians Support Appointing Mayors Instead of Electing Them

Khaberni - A survey conducted by the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan revealed that 55% of the national sample and 50% of the opinion leaders' sample support the proposal to appoint mayors instead of electing them, compared with 38% of the national sample and 48% of the opinion leaders' sample who do not support this.

Also, 51% of the national sample and 50% of the opinion leaders' sample support the proposal to maintain provincial councils (decentralization), while 43% of the national sample confirm their participation in the upcoming municipal and provincial council elections.
