Khaberni - Qatari Akram Afif and Salem Al-Dosari, captain of the Saudi national team, are competing with Malaysian Arif Ayman Hanby for the award of the best local player within the continent of Asia in the ceremony that will be hosted in Riyadh next Thursday.

The eyes of the yellow continent are on the Asian Football Confederation Awards 2025, presented by Neom, which is being held for the first time in Saudi Arabia.

The ceremony will be held at the famous King Fahd Cultural Center, with the participation of a host of prominent sports personalities and stars who will be honored across 20 different categories in the 29th edition of the continental event (formerly known as the Asian Football Confederation Annual Awards).

The ceremony will celebrate the most notable successes during the 2024-2025 season, which saw the launch of an improved version of the elite Asian Champions League and a historic start to the Asian Women's Champions League.

The Asian federation's website announced today, Saturday, that the ceremony segments will culminate in the announcement of the winners of the best male and female player in Asia, with Afif, Al-Dosari, and Hanby competing for the men's award, while the women's list includes Australian Holly McNamara, Chinese Wang Shuang, and Japanese Hana Takahatchi.

The ceremony will also feature the announcement of the winners in some other categories, which are:

- Best Young Female Player in Asia

- Best Young Male Player in Asia

- Best Asian Female Professional Player Abroad

- Best Asian Male Professional Player Abroad

- Special Awards for Referees
