Khaberni - A horrific car accident claimed the life of an Iraqi groom, while his wife suffered serious injuries that left her in a coma, during their return from their honeymoon between the cities of Sulaymaniyah and Khanaqin.
The tragic accident occurred this evening on the road linking Khanaqin and Kalar, when the private car in which the couple was traveling collided with a large truck, resulting in the immediate death of the groom and serious injuries to his wife, who was then taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the truck driver sustained various injuries.
Media reports mentioned that the newlyweds had been married for only nine days and were on their way back home after spending a few days of their honeymoon in Sulaymaniyah Province.
The accident has caused a wave of sadness among the local residents who expressed their shock at the groom's tragic departure, while medical efforts continue in an attempt to save the life of the bride, who lies in a complete coma.
