Khaberni - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced on Saturday new military maneuvers in response to the American movements in the Caribbean region.
Maduro saw the deployment of American warships off the Venezuelan coast in the Caribbean as an operation aimed ultimately at overthrowing him.
Washington asserts that the purpose of these movements is to counteract drug smuggling operations.
American fighter jets have bombed several boats on the pretext that they were smuggling drugs from Venezuela to the United States.
Maduro stated in a post on Telegram that the new exercises are being conducted along a corridor stretching from the Caribbean to the Orinoco River on the border with Brazil. He wrote "We have been active since midnight."
He affirmed "Venezuela's right to peace" in the face of what he described as military escalation by the United States.
