Khaberni - After the announcement of the ceasefire in Gaza coming into effect, a Houthi source reported that the group's leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, directed his fighters to cease attacks on the occupation, as well as attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The source added that the halt of attacks will hold as long as the occupation adheres to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, according to the "TASS" agency.
The source confirmed the suspension of all military operations against the occupation and the related commercial ships, explaining that the Houthi leader ordered monitoring compliance with the terms of the agreement.
It indicated that the movement's future steps would focus on supporting the Palestinians.
This came after Israel and Hamas, last Wednesday, agreed on the first phase of US President Donald Trump's plan to stop the war in Gaza, following indirect negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, mediated by the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey also participated.
It is worth mentioning that the United States had accused the Houthis of disrupting global trade since late 2023 by launching hundreds of drone and missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, the Houthi group has repeatedly announced that it targets ships associated with Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians after the occupation’s war on Gaza.
