Israel objects to about 100 prisoner names and excludes 25 prominent leaders

Khaberni - The Israeli site "Walla" reported from sources that the final revelation of the Palestinian prisoners to be released includes only 195 lifers.

Israeli media added that the Shin Bet objected to about 100 names and excluded 25 prominent leaders, indicating that only 60 prisoners from Hamas movement are among the 195 prisoners to be released.

Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" mentioned that the Prison Service received orders to release security prisoners as part of the exchange deal.

It was pointed out that the transfer of security prisoners from 5 prisons to designated release facilities has begun, adding that the exchange deal includes the release of about 250 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment and 1700 from Gaza detained after October 7, 2023.

Last Friday, Israel released a list of 250 Palestinian prisoners it agreed to release as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza.

The list includes members from the Hamas and Islamic Jihad Palestinian movements, Fatah, and the Popular Front, but does not include some of the leaders that Hamas demanded to be released, including prominent Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, the Secretary-General of the Popular Front Organization Ahmed Saadat, and the Hamas leader Hassan Salameh.

Out of the 250 prisoners to be released, 15 will be released to East Jerusalem, 100 to the West Bank, while the rest will be deported to Gaza or another location, according to the decision of the Israeli government published yesterday.
