Khaberni - The official Central Korean News Agency reported on Saturday that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a large military parade presenting a new intercontinental ballistic missile in front of visiting international figures.
The military parade was held on Friday to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the ruling Workers' Party, following celebrations on Thursday.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang, a delegation from Russia led by former President Dmitry Medvedev, and the leader of the Vietnamese Communist Party To Lam, were among the foreign dignitaries that attended the anniversary celebration in Pyongyang.
At the military parade, nuclear-armed North Korea showcased its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile, the "Hwasong-20," which was described by the Central Korean News Agency as "the strongest strategic nuclear weapon system in the country."
The Hwasong series of intercontinental ballistic missiles has given North Korea the ability to target any location in the mainland United States, though questions remain about the sophistication of its guidance system for reaching targets, and the payload warhead's ability to withstand reentry into the atmosphere.
The Central Korean News Agency reported that Kim delivered a speech at the military parade expressing his "warm encouragement" for the North Korean forces involved in overseas operations.
Kim said, "Our military must continue to develop into an invincible entity that destroys all threats."
Kim also held talks on Friday with Medvedev, who said that the sacrifices of North Korean soldiers fighting on behalf of Russia in its military campaign in Ukraine have proven the reliability of the relations between the two countries.
The Central Korean News Agency reported that Kim told Medvedev he hopes to continue to strengthen cooperation with Russia and engage closely in various exchanges to achieve shared goals.
