Khaberni - American star Angelina Jolie revealed new details about her painful divorce from actor Brad Pitt in recent legal documents submitted to the Supreme Court in Los Angeles, amid the ongoing dispute between them regarding the ownership of their French estate, "Chateau Miraval".
Jolie explained in her statement that the events that led to the separation were "emotionally difficult" for her and her children, confirming that after filing for divorce she gave Brad Pitt full control over their homes in Los Angeles and Miraval, hoping that this would help ease tensions between them after a difficult period.
The 50-year-old star said that she and her six children (Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17) have not visited the French estate since 2016, considering it associated with painful memories related to the divorce phase.
Jolie accused Pitt in the documents of trying to force her to sign an extensive secret agreement preventing her from discussing the reasons for their divorce in exchange for his agreement to buy out her share in the estate, which she strongly rejected saying, "As a mother to our children and an advocate for victims of violence worldwide, I found this request to be extremely painful and couldn’t accept it."
In 2021, Jolie completed the sale of her share of the estate to a company affiliated with the "Stoli Group", prompting Brad Pitt to file a lawsuit against her, claiming that she sold her share without his permission.
Jolie confirmed that she did not request any alimony or financial support from Pitt after the divorce, explaining that her savings were tied to the estate, and she needed the sale proceeds to secure her children's future. She also revealed that she stopped working for almost two years to dedicate her time to caring for her children and their psychological recovery.
In closing her statement, Jolie requested the court to compel Brad Pitt to pay $33,000 to cover the legal fees she incurred in responding to his demand to disclose her private correspondence, pointing out that he ignored repeated warnings from her lawyers to withdraw the request.
On the other hand, a source close to Pitt confirmed that the ongoing dispute is "purely a business disagreement" unrelated to the divorce, noting that the actor's aim is to preserve the future of his children and ensure they benefit from the estate as a financial legacy in the future.
