Khaberni - In a move indicating a major shift in the way of interacting with the globally famous "Chrome" browser, "Google" is testing a new design for the search bar on the "New Tab" page of the browser, named "Realbox Next".
According to tech reports published by "Android Headlines", the new design is still in the internal testing phase and is not enabled by default, as it is quietly undergoing testing under the experimental settings under the option "NTP Realbox Next".
This experiment shows Google's effort to make the search bar smarter, akin to modern artificial intelligence interfaces.
The new design comes with two options, "long" and "compact", where the long version features a two-row design resembling a chat interface or message writing, allowing users to enter long questions and receive smart, contextual suggestions. The compact version retains the traditional shape but with minor visual improvements.
Ask Google
Both designs include a prominent option at the top titled "Ask Google", in addition to a set of interactive suggestions such as, "conduct a comparison", "teach me a new skill", "make a plan", and "search for a topic".
It seems that Google, through this change, aims to transform the new tab page into an interactive space more like a mini artificial intelligence platform, capable of understanding context and providing assistance in multiple areas, not just a gateway for traditional search operations.

This move coincides with Google's ongoing efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into its core products, as the Chrome browser already supports the "Gemini" assistant and artificial intelligence mode, which allows for smarter searches and reading articles in a podcast-like voice.
In a related context, Google is also testing a number of new features in Chrome, including video quotes via "Google Lens", the option to "Create a group of tabs", in addition to an update to the reading mode that will get four new color themes providing the user with a more comfortable and flexible experience.
