Khaberni - Tkiyet Um Ali signed a memorandum of joint cooperation with the Celiac Disease Patients Care Charity Association, aiming to provide safe and appropriate nutritional support for individuals with celiac disease (known in Jordan as wheat allergy) in various provinces of the kingdom. This cooperation stems from both parties' commitment to serving the most needy groups and ensuring they receive food that meets their special health and nutritional needs, thus promoting the concepts of community food security and achieving justice in access to safe food.
The memorandum aims to align the monthly food parcels provided by Tkiyet Um Ali with the health standards specific to those with celiac disease, through the exchange of information and related databases, and coordination between the two parties to identify deserving families, and providing lists of gluten-free food items and ensuring their availability through specialized and accredited suppliers.
The memorandum also includes cooperation in organizing community awareness campaigns about celiac disease, the differences between it and wheat allergy, and methods of dealing with both diseases, which will raise the general level of awareness and enhance the supportive environment for the affected individuals.
During the signing ceremony, both parties emphasized the importance of this cooperation in alleviating the health and economic burdens borne by the affected families, and enabling them to meet their nutritional needs in a sustainable and humane manner.
The memorandum was signed by Mr. Samer Balqar, General Manager of Tkiyet Um Ali, and Mrs. Abida Al Qaisi, President of the Celiac Disease Patients Care Charity Association, in the presence of representatives from both institutions.
Tkiyet Um Ali was established in 2003 by an initiative from Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Hussein, may God protect her, and is the first institution of its kind in Jordan concerned with combating food poverty. The institution operates sustainable programs to provide healthy and adequate food support to beneficiary families monthly across various provinces of the kingdom, aiming for a Jordan free from hunger.
The Celiac Disease Patients Care Association was established in late 2018, and is the only Arab association accredited by the European Federation of Celiac Associations. The association is concerned with raising awareness about celiac disease in the provinces of the kingdom, training in the production of gluten-free products, and working to secure nutritional support for those affected.
