The Department of Statistics issued its monthly report on the general consumer price index (inflation), which observed an increase of 1.85% for the first nine months of the year 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. On a monthly level, the consumer price index rose by 1.74% for September 2025 compared to the corresponding month in 2024, and a minor increase of 0.10% (less than one percentage point) for September 2025 compared with August 2025.
Accordingly, the general consumer price index for the first nine months of 2025 reached 112.62 compared to 110.57 for the same period in 2024. On a monthly level, the general consumer price index for September 2025 was 112.74 compared to 110.81 for the same month in 2024, and the index for September 2025 was 112.74 compared to 112.63 for the preceding month of the same year.
According to the commodity groups for the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, the index for the "Personal Belongings" group increased by 20.32%, "Tobacco and Cigarettes" by 11.78%, "Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa" by 8.92%, "Fruits and Nuts" by 8.74%, and "Spices, Food Enhancers and Other Foods" by 5.02%. Meanwhile, the index for the group "Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes" decreased by (3.08%), "Household Tools" by (2.83%), "Furniture, Carpets, and Mats" by (2.47%), and "Fish and Seafood Products" by (2.05%).
On the front of commodity groups, the increase in the general consumer price index for September 2025 compared to the same month in 2024 was primarily contributed to by the groups "Personal Belongings", "Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa", "Fruits and Nuts", and "Tobacco and Cigarettes". Meanwhile, the groups "Household Tools", "Fish and Seafood Products", and "Home Appliances", and "Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes" contributed to reducing the increase.
Among the notable commodity groups that contributed to the rise in the general consumer price index for September 2025 compared to August of the same year were "Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes" by 7.64%, "Personal Belongings" by 4.33%, "Tea, Coffee, and Cocoa" by 1.42%, "Education" by 1.21%, and "Fruits and Nuts" by 0.44%.
