Khaberni - OpenAI mentioned that artificial intelligence could threaten the future of many jobs in the near future, after a new study revealed a list of 44 jobs most susceptible to replacement by artificial intelligence.
The study conducted by the company that developed "ChatGPT" used a new test called GDPval to compare the performance of artificial intelligence with human experts in nine of the most significant economic sectors in the United States.
The results showed that artificial intelligence excels in some areas remarkably, especially in the retail and wholesale sectors, where it outperformed human workers by more than 50% in carrying out assigned tasks.
The most affected were counter staff and renters, as artificial intelligence surpassed them in 81% of the cases.
Professions such as sales managers, shipping and receiving workers, and editors topped the list threatened by artificial intelligence, with rates exceeding 70%.
Here are some of the jobs most susceptible to replacement by artificial intelligence according to the report:
- Counter staff and renters: Artificial intelligence outperformed them in 81% of tasks, such as handling customers and logging data.
- Sales managers: They were defeated in 79% of cases against artificial intelligence, especially in tasks like analyzing market data and crafting proposals.
- Shipping and receiving workers: They were defeated by a rate of 76%, as artificial intelligence can manage shipping schedules and track documents more efficiently.
- Editors and reviewers: Artificial intelligence outperformed them by 75% in reviewing texts and creating content.
- Private investigators and legal consultants: They were defeated by a rate of 70% against artificial intelligence in tasks of research and legal analysis.
- Registered nurses: Artificial intelligence tested their ability to assess skin images and create consultative reports, and the results were strong but less than some other occupations.
- Manufacturing engineers: Artificial intelligence faced the task of creating three-dimensional models of tools and equipment, and the competitive performance was good but varied.
Sectors most affected:
- Retail sector: Artificial intelligence outperformed human workers by 56%.
- Wholesale trade sector: The rate of outperformance reached 53%.
- Government jobs: Like community compliance officers and social service workers, by more than 52%.
Sectors least affected:
- The media and information sector: Which includes film directors and journalists, where the rate of artificial intelligence superiority was only 39%, indicating that these jobs rely more on creativity and human capability.
For its part, OpenAI said that its currently best model, GPT5-high, achieved a winning rate of 48.8%, compared to only 12.4% for the GPT-4o model launched 15 months ago, reflecting the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technology and its proximity to competing human capabilities in performing complex professional tasks.
However, the company emphasised that these results do not necessarily mean the complete loss of jobs by humans, but indicate the possibility of using artificial intelligence as a tool to support and improve daily work performance, especially in areas that require precise data processing and analysis.
In an exciting comment, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, admitted that he is concerned about the impact of artificial intelligence on the job market, noting that up to 40% of jobs could be affected in the future by reliance on automation.
