Khaberni - The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security in the UAE has emphasized on the necessity for residents and visitors to comply with the laws on entry and residency of foreigners, confirming that violations of residency, visit, and tourist visas can lead to financial fines and stringent penalties, which in some cases may reach up to 100,000 dirhams, in addition to imprisonment.
According to the official portal of the UAE government, and based on Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2021 concerning the entry and residency of foreigners, the most prominent violations and penalties related to residency include:
1- Expiration of residency or visit visa, with a fine of 50 dirhams for each day of delay after the expiration of the grace period.
2- Delay in renewing the Emirates identity card, a daily fine of 20 dirhams, with a maximum of 1000 dirhams.
3- Misuse of a visa in a manner inconsistent with the purpose for which it was granted, punishable by imprisonment or a fine not less than 10,000 dirhams.
4- Using or harboring an infiltrator into the country, with a fine of 100,000 dirhams and imprisonment for a period not less than two months, with the fine multiplied by the number of offenders used, up to a maximum of 5 million dirhams.
5- Forgery of visas or residencies or using them unlawfully, punishable by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years.
6- Entering or exiting through unofficial ports or by illegitimate means, with penalties including imprisonment and a fine.
