Khaberni - A spokesperson for the Israeli government told Reuters that Israel expects the release of detainees to begin on Saturday, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) had signed the first phase of the Gaza agreement.
The spokesperson did not specify whether the government expects the immediate release of all remaining forty-eight detainees, both alive and deceased.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas signed the first phase of the peace plan, stating that all detainees would soon be released, and that Israel would withdraw its forces to a pre-agreed line in preparation for a "strong and lasting" peace.
Trump added on the Truth Social platform, in the early hours of Thursday, that all parties would be treated fairly, describing the day as "great for the Arab and Muslim world, for Israel, and for the United States," thanking Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for their role in achieving what he described as a "historic and unprecedented event."
The spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, announced that mediators reached an agreement in the early hours of Thursday that includes all clauses and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Al-Ansari explained on the "X" platform that the agreement aims to end the war and release the Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners, in addition to introducing humanitarian aid into the sector, noting that the details of the agreement will be announced later.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Thursday the achievement of a comprehensive agreement aiming to end the war on the Gaza Strip, after responsible and serious negotiations conducted by the movement and Palestinian resistance factions around President Trump's proposal in Sharm el-Sheikh.
The movement stated in its statement: "After responsible and serious negotiations conducted by the movement and Palestinian resistance factions around President Trump's proposal in Sharm el-Sheikh, aimed at stopping the war of extermination against our Palestinian people, and the withdrawal of the occupation from the Gaza Strip; the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announces the achievement of an agreement that stipulates the end of the war on Gaza, the withdrawal of the occupation, the entry of aid, and the exchange of prisoners."
