Khaberni - The United Nations will reduce the number of peacekeeping forces worldwide by 25 percent in the coming months, namely between 13,000 and 14,000 military and police personnel, primarily due to funding shortages linked to US cuts, according to a senior UN official on Wednesday.
The official, asking for anonymity, said, "We will have to repatriate personnel back to their homes, and reduce the number of peacekeeping forces of military and police by about 25%, as well as their equipment. A large number of civilian staff in the missions will also be affected."
