In response to a question on what remains to finalize an agreement on Gaza, Trump said on Wednesday evening: "Either finalize it or sign it," adding that he would probably go to Egypt.
Trump said earlier on Wednesday that he might travel to the Middle East by the end of this week, confirming that an agreement between Israel and Hamas on Gaza is "very imminent."
Trump explained to journalists at the White House, "I may head to Egypt at the end of the week, possibly on Sunday," adding, "We'll see, but there's a very good chance. The negotiations are going very well."
The American President said, "Our latest negotiations, as you know, have been with Hamas, and it seems that they are going well. We will let you know, if so, we will probably leave on Sunday, maybe Saturday."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that President Donald Trump might visit the Middle East if an agreement ending the war in Gaza is reached, according to Israeli media reports.
Rubio explained in statements to journalists on Wednesday evening that the decision is up to Trump, but he surmised Trump’s interest in making the visit "if his schedule allows it."
He mentioned that the negotiations had "made good progress today" and that "things are moving in a positive direction," but he also noted that "there is still work to be done," adding: "We have been in similar situations before and felt disappointed."
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi confirmed on Wednesday that the negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh are currently underway to end the war on Gaza and are progressing positively, stating that Egypt's efforts to end the war on Gaza are unceasing.
The Egyptian President sent a message to President Trump to continue supporting the achievement of an agreement on Gaza, adding: I invite President Trump to attend the signing of the Gaza agreement in Egypt if it is reached.
An evening session began a short while ago within the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, on Wednesday, in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, on the third day of the talks aiming to finalize a definitive agreement according to President Donald Trump's plan, which consists of 20 points, according to Cairo News.
"Cairo News" reported that the atmosphere in the meetings regarding reaching an agreement is "positive."
It mentioned that the Hamas delegation "showed great flexibility during the ongoing discussions," as the movement's delegation presented the positivity and responsibility necessary to make the required progress and complete the agreement.
