Khaberni - The New Cairo Court upheld the decision to detain TikToker Mohamed Abdel Aaty and Mohamed Shaker, known as "Shaker Mahzoor", for 45 days pending investigations.

The court rejected their appeal against the detention issued against them, on charges related to misuse of social media platforms and publishing content that contravenes public morals and values.

The security forces had arrested Mohamed Abdel Aaty after videos circulated on social media platforms showing him uttering phrases described as inappropriate and contrary to public decency.

Investigations revealed that the content he posted included provocations considered as incitement to debauchery, prompting the relevant authorities to take necessary legal actions and referring him for prosecution.

As for Shaker Mahzoor, he was caught in the El Tagamoa El Awal area with an unlicensed firearm and narcotic substances of the type "hashish" and "ice" in addition to electronic content containing insults to family and social values.

During the investigations, Shaker admitted to fully managing his social media accounts, stating that he was aiming to increase viewership and profits, without intending to offend or exceed values. He said in his statements: "I was making videos for laughter and to attract interaction, and I didn't imagine that it could cause a crisis or be considered offensive".

The court's decision to reject the appeal confirms the continuation of the detention of the accused pending investigations, as part of efforts to limit the spread of unregulated content across digital platforms and to legally hold those responsible accountable.
