Khaberni - On Wednesday, the government signed a concessional loan agreement with the German Development Bank, worth 47 million euros aimed at enhancing water supplies and increasing the ability to adapt to climate change across the kingdom.

The project will contribute to supporting sustainable extraction operations and the desalination of brackish water, within the national efforts to address the severe water scarcity crisis.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, in the presence of the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Al-Saud, the German Ambassador, Bertram von Moltke, and the representative of the German Development Bank, Judith Etzler, marking a new milestone in the strong developmental partnership between Jordan and Germany.

This initiative aligns with Jordan's economic modernization vision, where it responds to urgent challenges in the fields of water management, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Following the signing of the agreement, Ambassador von Moltke stated: "Germany will continue to support Jordan in facing its pressing challenges in the water sector," reaffirming his country's long-term commitment to this vital sector.
