Khaberni - Tesla is recalling the crossover Model Y 2026 vehicles due to an issue with the illumination of the rear reverse lights, stemming from faulty wiring connections.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves the reverse lights not illuminating properly, which makes the vehicles non-compliant with federal vehicle safety standards.

To fix the issue in Tesla Model Y vehicles, affected owners are requested to visit service centers, where technicians will inspect the reverse light unit and rear interface wires, and replace any defective components found.

Notifications are scheduled to be sent to the owners on November 30, while Tesla confirmed that the suppliers have updated the design of the lamp unit and wiring, and the company has added additional tests to detect rear light failures more quickly.

This issue affects 260 vehicles, believed to all contain the defect, which is caused by a loss of connection in the rear lamp circuit due to improper installation of the connector or the pin.

Tesla first discovered the issue on July 13, when a member of the Gigafactory Berlin team noticed that the reverse lights in a Model Y were not working. After several months of investigation, the company decided to carry out an official recall campaign.

As of last month, there have been 94 warranty claims and two field reports related to this issue, with no accidents or injuries reported so far.
