Khaberni - Just hours before the highly anticipated match between the Qatari football team and its Omani counterpart in the Asian qualifiers for the finals of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held next year in America, Canada, and Mexico, artificial intelligence programs have predicted Qatar's victory over Oman.
The Qatari team will meet its Omani counterpart later today, before facing the UAE team next Tuesday.
The Qatari newspaper «Al Sharq» published a report in which it surveyed various artificial intelligence programs about their predictions for the match between the Qatari and Omani teams.
The artificial intelligence program "Capilot" showed a preference for the Maroon to win with a 45% chance, taking into account the home advantage and the crowd, against 35% for its Omani counterpart, with a 20% chance for a draw which it considered possible in light of the close levels and cautious match scenario.
Meanwhile, "Chat GPT" predicted that the Qatari team would beat its Omani counterpart two goals to one, refusing to rule out a draw with a goal on each side if Oman succeeds in imposing strong defense on the key Qatari players.
The newspaper mentioned that when "Chat GPT" was asked about its predictions for today's Qatar vs. Oman match, the program provided a brief overview of the previous encounters between the teams, affirming that the Qatari team historically has an upper hand in direct confrontations according to the statistics, but this does not prevent Oman from possibly causing an upset or at least achieving a draw if they tighten their defense line and exploit opportunities.
The program explained that there is usually significant pressure on the Qatari team or it is expected to perform better in front of its fans, warning that this pressure can lead to mistakes or tension in performance, especially in crucial stages or decisive matches, like today’s match against Oman which will open the path towards the World Cup 2026.
Similarly, the program "Deep Seek" predicted that the victory of the Qatari team is slightly more likely, indicating that this match is crucial in the journey to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which puts immense pressure on the players and the technical staff.
The same program affirmed that the Qatari team will rely on the factors of home ground and crowd and attempt to leverage the experience of its players in crucial situations, while the Omani team under the leadership of the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz will depend on defensive discipline, fighting spirit, and exploiting mistakes, relying on counter-attacks thanks to the morale that the Omani team has from winning the last encounter between the teams last year with a score of two goals to one.
The majority of artificial intelligence programs agreed that Akram Afif is one of the key players for the Qatari team, capable on his own of turning the score of a match, and that tightly marking the star player from the Maroon could strip the national team of 40% of its threat.
Conversely, Salah Al-Yahyai, the winger for the Omani team, appears to be the most troublesome player in fast transitions, and is one of the key elements that Queiroz heavily relies on.
The artificial intelligence programs also confirmed that the Maroon always imposes a high pace in the first fifteen minutes to stifle the opponent, highlighting that the Qatari team generally relies on a high possession philosophy with pressing, and tends to build play from the back, with fullbacks Hamam Al-Amin, Pedro Miguel, or Tarek Salman supporting the attack and relying on the speed of transitioning from midfield to attack through Akram Afif and Almoez Ali, and passing between the lines.
In contrast, the Omani team appears to be more tactically disciplined, with the coach preferring organized defense, and closing the depth in front of the attackers, while exploiting the spaces behind the Maroon's fullbacks with fast, long balls towards the strikers or the usual wingers, Salah Al-Yahyai, or Issam Al-Subhi.
