Khaberni - "Chat GPT" is now capable of running external applications directly inside its chat window, thereby allowing direct chatting with these external applications, according to "Wired" tech site report.
The reveal of the new feature comes from Sam Altman, the CEO of "Open AI," during the company's annual developer conference in San Francisco.
Altman describes this step as enabling the emergence of a new generation of applications that you can interact with directly and converse with as if they understand you, even though these applications do not possess the traditional artificial intelligence features.
The company is now providing limited access to a new proprietary software development kit to enable external applications to work directly with "Chat GPT"; currently, access to this kit is limited to a selected group of top developers such as "Canva," "Zillow," and "Spotify."
Alexi Christakis, a software engineer at the company, presented a demo at the conference on how to use the new applications, where he asked "Canva" to design posters for a dog walking project, then requested a presentation to gather funding for the project.
Afterwards, he asked "Chat GPT" to advise him on a suitable location for starting the project and was suggested San Petersburg. Christakis then requested "Zillow" to search for appropriate properties in the area and refined the list of available properties to suit his choice.
Altman added that "Chat GPT" in the future would provide developers with various ways to profit from their applications inside the tool, such as the possibility of purchasing directly within the tool without exiting it or even displaying ads within their own applications.
The new features reflect "Open AI's" interest in keeping "Chat GPT" users within the application and eliminating the need to exit to other applications, which is reinforced by Nick Turley, the head of "Chat GPT" products, stating that their main goal was to build a super assistant, not just a chatbot.
