Energy Authority Confirms Tariff Stability and Safety of Gas Station Licenses

Khaberni - The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission clarified that the authority deals with the file of licensing natural gas vehicle supply stations with high responsibility within a supervisory system based on precise technical and regulatory studies.

The media spokesperson for the authority, Tahreer Al-Qaq, stated that the granting of licenses is done after verifying all requirements within the safety and security standards to ensure the readiness, efficiency, and ability of the stations to meet market needs and expected demand according to the highest quality and safety standards.

She confirmed that the authority operates within clear legislative frameworks and transparent procedures that prioritize the stability of the sector and consumer protection, continuing its role as a responsible regulator and supervisor of the energy sector, which preserves the rights of all parties and enhances the confidence of citizens and investors in Jordan's electrical energy system.

Regarding the electric tariff for charging electric vehicles, she confirmed that there is neither a direction nor an intention to raise it, whether applied to public and private charging stations or to separate meters for home charging, emphasizing that the authority exclusively has the right to determine or modify the electric tariff, as it is the legally authorized entity to regulate the energy sector and ensure its stability, fairness, and transparency.

Al-Qaq explained that the authority exercises its regulatory and supervisory role according to a solid institutional approach that balances public interest protection and the sustainability and fairness of services, assuring that the current implementation of the electric tariff structure is based on precise technical and economic studies aimed at balancing the costs of the electrical system and protecting consumers, stimulating the investment environment, while maintaining market stability and fair pricing.

She added that the tariff item for fuel price difference has been at a value of zero since April 2020, reflecting the stability of the regulatory policy and the ongoing commitment of the authority to ensure tariff stability and not burdening citizens with any additional costs, which reinforces confidence in the electrical system and enshrines the principles of fairness in pricing and service sustainability.

Al-Qaq confirmed that the authority continues to facilitate investment procedures and grant the necessary licenses for establishing and operating electric vehicle charging stations, ensuring the availability of the service for electric vehicle users across various provinces of the kingdom, contributing to the encouragement of transitioning to green and sustainable transportation, providing fair and appropriate options for all categories, in line with the goals of the economic modernization vision and national directions towards energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and enhancing the competitiveness of economic sectors.
