Gulf States Inject Hundreds of Billions in Artificial Intelligence Race by 2030

Khaberni - The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Al-Badiwi, estimated the investments of the council's countries in the field of artificial intelligence at tens of billions of dollars in past years.

Al-Badiwi pointed to the availability of ambitious Gulf plans to double these investments to reach hundreds of billions by 2030.

This came during the participation of the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the legislative parliamentary forum "Best Legislative Practices in Artificial Intelligence", today in Abu Dhabi, pointing out that the current stage imposes the formulation of a comprehensive vision that enhances cooperation between legislative councils, governments, the private sector, civil society, and academic institutions.

In the same context, Al-Badiwi emphasized that the responsibility currently is not only limited to enacting new laws, but also extends to the formulation of a social and legislative contract that places humans at the heart of the artificial intelligence equation, hoping to come out with practical recommendations that enhance Gulf legislative cooperation, and support the exchange of expertise with international partners, to keep pace with the future and ensure responsible use of artificial intelligence.

He also confirmed that the leaders of the council's countries envisioned the future, working towards integration and convergence in various fields, noting that the journey of cooperation should not be confined to specific areas, but should include everything that affects human life, security, development, and economy. Accordingly, the council's countries have shown increasing interest in the artificial intelligence sector, recognizing its pivotal role in shaping the contours of the new global economy.
