Khaberni - Dr. Nikolai Kreiutchkov, an immunologist, indicates that chronic colds may persist for weeks or even months. Some of them may cause serious complications.

He says that chronic colds represent a blend of acute respiratory viral infections and influenza, and may sometimes be accompanied by a secondary bacterial infection. This group of infections leads to persistent symptoms such as coughing, runny nose, and gastrointestinal problems including diarrhea even four weeks after the onset of the illness.

The experts confirm that long-term COVID-19 appears more frequently and has a different course than common colds, with 7-10% of those with mild cases experiencing post-COVID-19 symptoms, while half of those with moderate or severe cases may suffer from ongoing health issues.

For her part, Dr. Oksana Mikhailova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist, advises focusing on a light and simple diet during a cold to provide enough energy for the body to fight the virus, while avoiding fast food, fried meals, sugary carbonated drinks, and fatty foods.
