Khaberni - The Kremlin warned that the delivery of American "Tomahawk" missiles to Ukraine - if it happens - would constitute a serious escalation, given their capability to carry nuclear warheads.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters today, Tuesday: "That would indeed be a serious escalation, although it would not change the situation on the frontlines for the Kyiv regime."
Peskov added: "However, it is important to understand that, regardless of the intricacies, we are talking about missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads," he reiterated: "It's a really serious round of escalation."
Peskov’s comments came after US President Donald Trump announced yesterday, Monday, that he had made his decision regarding the supply of "Tomahawk" missiles to Ukraine, but he still had some questions he wanted to raise with the Ukrainian side to avoid escalation.
Peskov reminded that Moscow’s stance on delivering "Tomahawk" to Kyiv had been fully articulated by President Vladimir Putin during his participation in a session of the Valdai International Dialogue Forum last week.
Putin affirmed that Kyiv's potential use of "Tomahawk" missiles would not change the field situation at all, but it would significantly damage the relations between Russia and the United States, and pave the way for a new qualitatively different phase of escalation, noting that the use of these missiles by Ukraine without direct participation from U.S. military personnel is impossible.
