Khaberni - President Donald Trump met on Tuesday with his top national security team to discuss the developments in the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding the Gaza deal, prior to his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner departing to Egypt later today, according to Axios, citing two informed sources.
According to Axios, Trump and his team are strongly pushing to accomplish the negotiations within days, as a precursor to an agreement that would end the war ongoing for over two years and lead to the release of the remaining detainees.
Trump stated on Monday that he believes "we really have a good chance" to finalize the deal, as American and Israeli officials confirmed that the agreement has never been closer, noting that the recent negotiations were technical and focused on narrowing the remaining gaps, while the crucial moment is expected with the arrival of Witkoff and Kushner to Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday morning.
The meeting at the White House was attended, alongside Trump, by his Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles, according to the same source, who explained that Witkoff and Kushner provided a briefing on the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, and the latest messages conveyed by the Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump sent a message to a group of families of Israeli detainees, thanking them for nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize, affirming his personal commitment to returning the detainees home and ending the war within days.
