Khaberni - Adam Mosseri, head of the "Instagram" platform at "Meta" company, appeared in a video on his official Instagram account to debunk one of the most famous rumors about his platform, that "Instagram" spies and listens to your conversations to display ads at the right time, according to a report published by "The Sun".

This rumor is one of the most prominent rumors surrounding "Meta" platforms, whether it's "Instagram" or "Facebook" in general, as ads appear about things you talked about just seconds after you discussed them, as if the platform is eavesdropping.

Mosseri confirms in his video that this claim is baseless, adding that he sees many videos daily discussing it, in addition to his wife who sees different clips talking about the same subject.

He clearly states, "We do not spy on you, we do not use the phone's microphone to spy on you" and continues describing this act as a clear and disgusting breach of privacy.

Mosseri points out that all mobile phones have restrictions that prevent companies from doing this, and that all phone systems now have indicators to let you know if the phone's microphone is in use or not.

He also mentions that phone batteries would drain very quickly if a company were to eavesdrop and spy on users using an active microphone that operates all day without stopping.

As for the reason why these ads appear at the right time on "Instagram" and "Meta" platforms in general, Mosseri justifies this by pointing to the strength of Meta's advertising algorithm, which allows companies to target you with ads very precisely.

He added, "You might have interacted with something on an external site or within the platform, so this ad appeared to you," and also said that ads sometimes appear because your friends interacted with them or because the platform believes you are interested in this product.

Mosseri's video coincides with a series of news about "Instagram" and "Facebook" offering a paid subscription in some countries that prevents the user from seeing ads, as well as personalizing ads using the company's chatbot.
