Khaberni - The Spanish newspaper "Defensa Central" revealed reactions within Real Madrid to the reports published by the British newspaper "Mirror", which claimed that the "royal" club was preparing a 150 million euros offer to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez.
"Defensa Central" emphatically denied those reports, citing sources from Real Madrid, emphasizing that the story of Rodri's transfer to Bernabeu is "an endless story" and "just smoke."
The newspaper pointed to several factors that make Rodri not a current priority for the club:
The medical and fitness factor: The most important is Rodri's unsettling physical condition, especially after recovering from a serious knee injury. The player (29 years old) has recently suffered a new hamstring injury, and Real Madrid fears that muscular injuries might become a "permanent condition" after the complex knee injury.
The age factor: The club believes that Rodri's age (29 years old) is a negative factor in such a huge deal.
Strained relationship: The newspaper mentions that Rodri has become "an unwanted person" among Real Madrid fans after his recent statements following his win of the Ballon d'Or for the year 2024.
Exploiting the alleged offer:
The newspaper explained that Real Madrid feels that these reports circulated by the English media could just be an attempt by the player's camp or Manchester City to leverage the "royal" club's name in contract renewal negotiations for Rodri at Etihad Stadium.
The sources confirmed that Real would not be drawn into these rumors, and any consideration of signing Rodri, if it occurs, would be for a "much lower" amount considering his contractual situation (his contract ends in 2027) and his medical history and age.
