Khaberni - A young man in his twenties died yesterday evening, Monday, at the Al-Mafraq Government Hospital from complications of rabies. A medical source confirmed that the young man had been bitten by a rabid dog two months ago.

Details of the tragedy... From a dog bite to death

According to the medical source, the young man in his twenties was bitten by a stray dog about two months ago, but he did not go to any health center or hospital at the time to receive the anti-rabies vaccine. The young man arrived at the hospital last Saturday, after showing advanced symptoms of the disease. The source added that he was admitted to the intensive care unit and placed on mechanical ventilation, but his condition deteriorated rapidly and he died on Monday.
Preventive measures... No autopsy for the body
The medical source confirmed that strict preventive measures were taken in dealing with the case, noting that there would be no autopsy on the body of the deceased young man. He explained that this decision was made to ensure the safety of the medical and nursing staff, given that rabies is considered one of the highly contagious and dangerous diseases when directly handling body fluids.
