Khaberni - Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said his country will take a proactive step by filing a complaint before the International Criminal Court in the events of the Global Resilience Fleet.

Minister Grande-Marlaska added that any assault on individuals in international waters constitutes a deprivation of freedom according to local and international law.

Yesterday, Sunday, 29 activists who participated in the Resilience Fleet and were attacked and detained by Israel in international waters while the fleet headed towards Gaza to break the siege arrived in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

According to the French Press Agency, some Spanish activists reported "physical and psychological mistreatment" in Israel.

Rafael Borrego, a member of the fleet, told reporters about their detention in Israel, "The physical and psychological abuses were repeated throughout these days. We were beaten, dragged on the ground, our eyes were blindfolded, and our feet and hands were tied."

They were subjected to violence and verbal abuse
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares announced that the release of the 28 Spanish activists still detained in Israel and their return to Spain on Monday is expected, speaking to Catalonia Radio.

In a statement to the official Spanish television, Albares said that the government will ensure daily that the detainees receive necessary food, water, and health care.

Albares assured that Madrid had informed the Israeli side that some of these citizens are members of the Spanish Parliament and enjoy high-level guarantees and immunities.

Haaretz newspaper reported from documents that a large number of activists from the Resilience Fleet confirmed before the judges that they had been subjected to violence and verbal abuse by the police.

The newspaper mentioned that the activists confirmed that the Israeli police denied them water and deprived them of their right to consult lawyers.

As of Wednesday evening, Israeli authorities seized 42 ships belonging to the Global Resilience Fleet while sailing in international waters towards Gaza, detained hundreds of international activists on board, and transferred them to Ktzi'ot Prison (south), before announcing the start of their deportation on Friday.
