Khaberni - Today, Monday, October 6, 2025, the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud appreciated the support provided by the Dutch government to the water sector over the next four years amounting to 100 million euros, including 31 million euros for the national carrier project, confirming the depth of ties and pillars of constructive cooperation in the Jordanian-Dutch cooperation programs established by His Majesty the King, may God preserve him, and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, which serves the interests of the two friendly countries and reviewing aspects of joint cooperation.
The minister reviewed the scale of challenges faced by Jordan as well as Jordan's experiences in integrated water resource management, reducing water loss, adopting comprehensive energy efficiency programs, and the important projects that represent a long-term solution to the water problem in the kingdom such as the national carrier, emphasizing the importance of joint cooperation in water projects and enhancing the role of the Jordanian and Dutch private sectors in contributing to finding solutions to the water problem and addressing the impacts of climate change, floods, groundwater drainage areas, and modern technologies in agriculture and support for managing the Yarmouk Water Company and water awareness programs.
The minister expressed his appreciation and thanks for the continuous Dutch support to the water sector in finding innovative solutions to water challenges.
On her part, the Dutch Ambassador, Ms. Stella Kluth, appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the development and construction operations, and the active humanitarian efforts towards refugees, confirming that Jordan is one of the countries that have successfully managed its water reality despite its limited water resources, expressing the Dutch side's interest in effective cooperation to ensure the success of Jordan's pioneering and strategic water projects, and cooperation in various areas of water through the support provided over the next four years worth 100 million euros to enable the water sector to overcome the challenges it faces.
Ms. Kluth toured the control and command center accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Water Authority, Engineer Sofian Bataineh, the Media Assistant Omar Salama, Mr. Eyad Al Qasir, Financing Officer for infrastructure readiness projects, and Director of Internal Control Rami Shatiwi, along with several water officials, and closely observed the technologies and equipment for monitoring various water sources, expressing her satisfaction with Jordanian efforts in water management.
