Khaberni - The Public Corporation for Housing and Urban Development announced the opening of the Al-Muhammadiyah project in Ma'an Governorate and conducting a lottery for distributing commercial kiosks in Abu Nseir market in the capital, Amman.
This came during the celebration of Arab Housing Day, which coincides with the World Housing Day that falls on the first Monday of October each year, where this year it was under the slogan: "Reconstructing affected communities: Building a better future".
The Minister of Public Works and Housing, president of the corporation’s board, Engineer Maher Abu Al-Summan, emphasized during the celebration, the importance of the housing sector as one of the fundamental pillars in the journey of comprehensive development, explaining that housing is not just a shelter but represents a basic human right and a cornerstone for security, stability, and production.
He stated that the government views the housing sector as a main tool to achieve social justice and improve quality of life, pointing out that the corporation completed several initiatives during the current year within the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision, specifically within the quality of life and urban development axis.
He added that the corporation’s vision is based on creating future cities that comply with the best global standards, indicating projects of quality having been implemented in several governorates to meet the housing needs of various income groups.
He also mentioned the preparation of the second national report to follow up on the implementation of the new urban plan and raising it on the United Nations platform, alongside preparing the housing file in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme and starting to update the national housing strategy, explaining that the current phase represents an opportunity to enhance Arab integration and exchange of experiences and successful practices in developing the housing sector locally, regionally, and internationally.
For her part, the corporation’s general manager, Engineer Jumana Al-Atiyat, affirmed that housing represents a fundamental right for every person and a pivotal element in building a secure and stable society, stressing that providing suitable housing means securing a healthy environment that develops the family and strengthens national allegiance.
She explained that the corporation launched during the current year several quality projects, notably: Al-Malaha project which started at the beginning of the year, confirming the continued work on developing housing policies and improving quality of life.
She mentioned that studies are currently being prepared for low-cost housing projects and setting up a mechanism to support financing differentials for low-income individuals to enable them to own housing, in addition to preparing the final draft of standards for creating future cities according to the best global practices.
She indicated that the corporation was tasked with managing a project to provide land plots for housing purposes and improving quality of life, also designating 1039 land plots for teachers in support of their role in society, and began re-planning a group of treasury lands in densely populated areas to allocate them according to government instructions.
In this context, she announced the opening of the Al-Muhammadiyah project in Ma'an within the land development program and conducting a lottery to distribute 10 commercial kiosks in Abu Nseir market, which will be leased to a number of citizens with disabilities, humanitarian cases, and low-income individuals in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development.
She added that this procedure is in alignment with the royal directives aimed at enhancing economic empowerment and encouraging crafts and small activities in local communities.
She confirmed that from 2015 - 2025, the corporation managed to segregate 71 projects in various governorates with a total of 14,918 residential plots, pointing out the continuous work in a number of projects that will be announced sequentially, contributing to the increase in the supply of residential land ready for allocation.
Al-Atiyat bid farewell to the beneficiaries of the projects: Dabba Hanout, Al-Shamiya (Aqaba), Ma'an/Lands, Al-Urja (Ma'an), and Qadisiyah 1+2 (Tafilah), totaling 1757 beneficiaries, to visit the corporation during the current month to receive their registration deeds or to contact through the number (0797798505).
