Khaberni - American police announced the death of two people and the injury of 12 others, including a child, in a mass shooting incident that occurred in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, following a college football game and a local festival.

The Montgomery police stated that the incident occurred in a busy area downtown, during entertainment events concurrent with a match between Tuskegee and Morehouse universities, according to "People" magazine.

Montgomery Police Chief James Gra Boys explained during a press conference that 14 people were shot, two of whom died at the scene, while three others suffered life-threatening injuries, including a child. The injuries of the other nine are not believed to be serious.

Gra Boys added that the incident was an unjustified act of violence, vowing to pursue those responsible for the attack and hold them accountable. He also clarified that the shooting was not a traditional random incident, but occurred as a result of an exchange of gunfire between two parties among a crowd, in a scene he described as "tragic and chaotic".

The police chief indicated that investigations are still ongoing, and a number of suspects are currently being interrogated.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reid praised the prompt response of the security forces, describing the shooting in a crowd as reckless and selfish behavior, and committed to pursuing the involved parties regardless of how long it takes.

The authorities have closed the roads surrounding the incident location, and redirected traffic while the investigation and evidence gathering continue.

The police urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the security forces, emphasizing that "the smallest details might be crucial in identifying those involved".
