Khaberni - A Kuwaiti security source revealed that the total number of expatriates who have been expelled from Kuwait from various nationalities during the period from January 1, 2025, until October this month reached more than 28,984 expatriates.
The source indicated that the majority of those expelled were violators of the residency law, absentees, beggars, those expelled for public benefit, possessors or users of drugs or intoxicants, stray labor, or those engaged in suspicious activities.
In response to a question, the source said that if the ticket is not provided by the sponsor or the expelled individual, the ticket will be booked at the expense of the Ministry of Interior through the travel agencies contracted with the ministry, which have offices in the expulsion administration building. After that, a financial claim for the value of the ticket booked by the ministry is registered against the sponsor, whether a company or an individual, and a sponsorship ban is placed on them until the ticket is paid for. The source explained that the Expulsion Department strives to deport people as quickly as possible so that the average time an expelled individual spends at the Expulsion Administration is about 3 days, provided a passport or emergency travel document is available for them. He clarified that there are cases that take longer due to slow procedures by some embassies in issuing travel documents for their nationals or due to travel bans issued by the public prosecutor's office requiring their presence in court sessions.
There are also expellees without travel documents, whereby the General Administration of Correctional Institutions is contacted to take the necessary actions to contact the relevant authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Consular Affairs Administration, to contact the embassy of the expellee’s country to issue a travel document for them to enable the administration to carry out the expulsion decision issued against him.
The source also mentioned that the campaigns carried out by various sectors of the Ministry of Interior are ongoing and have contributed to detaining thousands of violators of the law.
